Its purpose is to transfer force from expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft via a piston rod and/or connecting rod. In the Caterpillar 3306 engine, found in D6 dozers and 12G motor graders, the piston is crucial for power generation.
A Cylinder Liner (or sleeve) is a cylindrical part to be fitted into an engine block to form a cylinder. It is one of the most important functional parts to make up the interior of an engine. It is installed in the engine block of a Komatsu 6D102 engine, commonly used in Komatsu PC200-6 excavators.

Troubleshooting & Solution:

Check Water Pump: The water pump impeller can corrode or the shaft can fail, leading to poor circulation. Solution: Inspect the water pump for leaks or unusual noises. Replacement may be necessary.
